Why are angry gays referring to Obama in the context of, "under *this* president"?

Good question. I don't know. But the thing is, I can't help wondering what Obama's ulterior motive is. This is so uncharacteristic of him. It could be just midterm election posturing. Let's see what he does and says on November 4th.
