What is the central conflict in the book Frankenstein?

Victor Frankenstein wanted to create life and succeeded, but the thing he created was so hideous, that its very existence revolted him. The creature is rejected, feared, and hated by all the humans it meets, and so it turns to vengeance against the father who initially abandoned it.
