Atheist, what was your religious upbringing like?

Pretty much all of my family is Christian...I do live in the bible belt. But my parents never forced me to go to church or to follow their religion, they let me make my own choice. For that I'm very grateful. There are some very happy and functional Christians out there, but far too many whose head has been totally screwed by religion.
